The Subs Club by J.A Rock
M/M BDSM
4/5 stars
Blurb
A year ago, my best friend Hal died at the hands of an incompetent “dom.” So I started the Subs Club, a private blog where submissives can review doms and call out the douche bags.
A perfect example of the kind of arrogant asshole I mean? The Disciplinarian. He has a pornstache. He loves meat, stoicism, America, and real discipline. And he thinks subs exist to serve him.
But . . . not everything about him is awful. His Davy Crockett act just seems like a cover for his fear of intimacy, and part of me wants to show him it’s okay to get close to people. And, I mean, sue me, but I have fantasized about real discipline. Not role-play, but like, Dave, you’re gonna be thirty in four years and you still work in a mall; get your ass in gear or I’ll spank it.
Not that I’d ever trust anyone with that kind of control.
I’m gonna redefine “battle of wills” for the Disciplinarian. Or I’m gonna bone him. It’s hard to say.
—Dave

Review
The Subs Club is the first book in a new series, and overall I enjoyed. It was heading towards a five star review but I felt let down by the ending. The story ended rather abruptly and didn't seem to be finished. I'm guessing that we will be hearing more about David and D's relationship in the next book, well I hope we will as I love them both.
David and his friends set up a website to rate local Doms to try and warn subs about any Doms who don't play safely. This is because one of their friends tragically died when a scene went wrong. David decides to scene with a Dom known as the Disciplinarian (or D) who he thinks is a complete douche, so that he can rate him on their site. Things don't go to plan though when he finds himself craving the discipline that only D can give him.
The humour in this book is fantastic, it had me laughing out loud at times. David and his friends are a little immature , but I found it quite charming and it often led to some entertaining moments. D was a fantastic character too, he was completely unique, I haven't come across a character quite like him before. David and D are complete opposites and they're an odd couple, but they actually worked well together.
I enjoyed this author's style of writing, the dialogue was crisp, the storyline flowed well and it was easy to read. This my first book by J.A Rock, but I'll definitely be reading more in the future - I've already downloaded the next book in this series. The Subs Club receives four out of five stars.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
