Review
Wow! Protecting His Own is an absolutely phenomenal book from Cherise Sinclair's fabulous Masters of the Shadowlands series. I've loved every book in this series, and this is my joint favourite (along with Master Sam and Linda's story). It stars hunky Nolan and his sweet submissive Beth from Breaking Free (Masters of the Shadowlands #3) so I recommend that you read that book first so that you know their backstory. This book really tugged at my heartstrings and had me in tears at times. It is a sweet (but insanely sexy) story that shows that you don't have to be related by blood to be a real, loving family. I devoured this book in one day - it's impossible to put down!
Beth and Nolan are very happily married, but they both long for a child. Abuse from her previous husband has meant that she can't have children, this has left her devastated and feeling that she's let Nolan down. They look into adopting a baby girl, but these plans get put on hold when they take in two little boys that they know from the women's shelter where they volunteer. They know that this is only temporary but they fall in love with the adorable children. Can Nolan protect Beth from the inevitable heartbreak when the boys have to leave? And can he protect the children from their drug addict mother and her abusive boyfriend?
Grant and Connor have to be the sweetest children I've come across in a book. What these two kids have been through is heartbreaking, but they really blossomed under the care of Nolan and Beth. The story was told from the POV of little Grant as well as Nolan and Beth, and this really helped you to love and connect with the children. As you'd expect from Cherise Sinclair, there are also some smokin' hot BDSM scenes. These are very well written, imaginative, very sexy and they had a purpose in the storyline - it wasn't just gratuitous sex, they scenes helped the main characters reconnect and forge an even stronger bond between them. Protecting His Own is an awesome book that receives five fabulous stars.
I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review.
Obsessed with this series is an understatement. Cherise Sinclair was my 1st venture into this genre and I am hooked! I know this one will be as amazing and the others.Excellent Review!!
