Book review - Finding Master Right by L A Witt (m/m BDSM) 4 stars

Finding Master Right by L.A Witt
M/m BDSM romance
4/5 stars

Synopsis

It's all fun and games until somebody falls in love.

Chase has just arrived at a much anticipated leather convention, and he’s about to lose his mind. Not only is his ex attending, but Chase is also rooming with Derek, a submissive he’s been dying to top. Although Derek is in search of a Dom, he made it painfully clear when the two of them hooked up for a very hot—but very vanilla—night just before the convention that he wasn’t interested in submitting to Chase.

Derek isn’t stupid. No matter how desperate he is to submit to Chase, he wants no part of a rebound relationship. As long as Chase is still pining after the sub who broke his heart a few months ago, Derek’s keeping him at arm’s length. Besides, there’s another Dom at this convention, the gorgeous Master Raul, who Derek is determined to attract.

But when Chase and Derek are confronted with all their kinks, from ropes to leather, bondage to flogging—not to mention each other—they can only ignore their mutual attraction for so long.

Review

Finding Master Right is a friends to lovers romance, complete with a good helping of kink.  The story is set at a leather convention, which was a fun, unique setting.  Chase and Derek have been friends for a while, but recently had a night between the sheets together.  Although Derek longs to submit to Chase, he insisted that the encounter remained vanilla. Now they are sharing a room together at the convention, and things between them are rather awkward.  They both have strong feelings for each other, but thanks to a series of misunderstandings, they are both convinced that the other isn't interested.  Both characters are guilty of not communicating, and this continues throughout the book.  After a while this gets a little frustrating, and I wanted to knock their heads together to try to knock some sense into them!

There are some really hot BDSM scenes in this book, but most of them involve either Chase or Derek with other people before they get together. Derek is a real painslut, so his scenes are quite intense, but I really enjoyed them. The scenes are quite varied, I thought the horse scene with Derek and Master Raul was great. I would have liked more scenes between Derek and Chase, a couple of extra chapters after they got together would have been nice.

I liked both of the main characters. We got both of their points of view, and they both had distinct voices.  Derek was probably my favourite of the two, he was a bit snarky and bratty which was fun to read.  The writing quality here was high, the dialogue was especially sharp, and I would definitely read more from this author.  Finding Master Right gets four out of five stars.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
