Book review - Mischief and the Masters by Cherise Sinclair - 5 stars

Mischief and the Masters by Cherise Sinclair
BDSM M/F/M menage romance
5/5 stars

Blurb

She wants a short, sweet Master. One Master.
The two devastatingly dominant Drago cousins have other ideas.

Her life destroyed by a stalker, Uzuri Cheval starts anew in Tampa and joins the exclusive Shadowlands club. Unconvinced of her claims that she can overcome her fear of big men without help, Master Z gives her a time limit. And she is improving--until she hears the stalker is out of prison. Now her time limit is up, and the Masters will intervene, which is okay--as long as whoever helps her is short. Okay, sweet and gentle would be good, too.

But two Doms? Dangerously experienced and dauntingly powerful cousins? No way.

Having volunteered in every hellhole in the world, Dr. Alastair Drago is ready to settle down. Detective Max Drago has joined him and, once again, the cousins share everything. A house, lives, problems…and whatever submissive catches their interest. One mischievous submissive has definitely caught Alastair’s. However, having been burned by a woman, Max remains detached…until little mischief’s troubles turn deadly.

Mischief and the Masters is the latest book in the bestselling Masters of the Shadowlands series. If you enjoy edgy ménage and dominance spiced with humor and suspense, you’ll love Cherise Sinclair’s latest romance.

Review

Yay! We join the Masters of the Shadowlands again for another fantastic story featuring a mischievous submissive and not one, but two, sexy alpha males. This is Uzuri's book and it feels like I've been waiting for this one for ages - but it was well worth the wait! Cherise Sinclair is an outstanding author and her books never disappoint - I think Mischief and the Masters is the best book that I've read this year. It's sexy, humorous, emotional, heartwarming, entertaining and suspenseful - it really does tick all of the boxes!

Uzuri's life was shattered by a violent stalker, but she was strong enough to pick the pieces of her life and start again. Being a trainee at the Shadowlands club was helping her to slowly overcome her fear of big men, but Master Z gave her a time limit to beat her fear and due to her stalker being let out of prison Uzuri is still terrified. Devious Master Z matches her with two sexy Doms to help her with her fear -  and they are both very large men. Cousins Alastair and Max share everything, and Alastair is hoping to find the woman that they can both spend the rest of their lives with - and he hopes that woman will be Uzuri. Max is not so keen on settling down as he's been hurt in the past, but there's something about the little minx that draws him in. But danger has followed Uzuri - can the Drago cousins keep her safe?

Oh my god! I am so in love with Max and Alastair! They are both very different characters, but they are both oh so sexy! Together smooth, sophisticated Alastair and rough, tough cop Max will make your panties damp and have you reaching for your battery operated boyfriend! They are so hot! I also loved how they were so gentle, caring and protective of Uzuri - they really are like two hunky White Knights riding in to save the damsel in distress! Mischief and the Masters is an awesome book, I highly recommend it - five stars!

Book review - The Unicorn by Delphine Dryden - 4 stars

The Unicorn by Delphine Dryden
BDSM M/f/f menage romance
4/5 stars

Blurb

Delia and Daniel have a picture-perfect life. They like their jobs. They love their house. Everything is coming up roses . . . but in private, they’d rather have the thorns. Their recent forays into kink have brought them closer than ever, but there’s still something missing, and they can’t quite work it out.
Mara knows what she’s missing: a significant other. She tried vanilla, and it was a total bust. But when she and her last girlfriend took things out of the kink club and into the “real” world, they fizzled. Even their friendship is on the rocks now. Mara feels like a lost stray, looking for a forever home.
When the three of them meet up at the brand-new club Escape, their connection is instant. And surprising—none of them were expecting more than a few hot nights. But now they might be ready to bring their kinky threesome into the light of day and build a life together.
Publisher's note: This title is a heavily revised re-issue of a prior story, Roses and Chains, originally released in 2011.

Review
It took me a while to get into this book, it was a bit of a slow starter for me. But I'm glad that I kept going with it because I ended up really enjoying this book. It is a BDSM m/f/f menage romance, a sub-genre that sadly I don't come across very often. I enjoyed the BDSM and sex scenes, especially the interactions between the two heroines - they were scorching hot!!

Delia and Daniel have a great life, and their journey into the world of kink has brought them closer - but it still feels like there is something missing. Mara really wants to have a meaningful relationship, but vanilla relationships haven't worked out for her and her last kinky relationship fizzled out. When Delia, Daniel and Mara meet at a new BDSM club the chemistry between them is electric. One night together turns into more - but can the three of them really build a life together?

Mara was an intriguing character, she was very complex with many layers to her personality. At first I couldn't quite see how she'd fit into Daniel and Delia's relationship, but she was actually perfect for them. Daniel annoyed me a couple of times, but on the whole I liked all three characters. This was an enjoyable read, and I wouldn't hesitate to read more from this author. Four stars.

Blog tour & 5* review - A Wanton Woman by Vanessa Vale

Vanessa Vale
A Wanton Woman

Mail Order Bride of Slate Springs

November 3, 2016

Blurb:

Celia Lawrence can't show her face in her conservative, small town. First, she discovered her husband in bed with another man's wife, and then she witnessed both their murders. While she didn't pull the trigger, small town gossip is not forgiving and everywhere she goes she is chastised for not being woman enough to keep her straying husband at home. Eager to flee her old life, Celia heads to Colorado as a mail-order bride.

As mayor of Slate Springs, Colorado, Luke Benson is expected to set the example. Their small town is hidden away in a remote mountainous region where few women have the courage or desire to tread. As mayor, it falls to him to test out their newly passed law and share a wife with his brother. The truth is, Luke has no interest in a woman of his own, and agrees to a mail-order bride out of duty, not anticipation.

His brother, Walker, is jaded and hard after the death of his first wife and unborn child. For Walker, loving again is out of the question. But a man has needs, and he'll eagerly take his pleasure from their new bride while expecting Luke to provide the tenderness and caring a woman expects.

A marriage based on everything but love should be doomed. But Celia, Luke and Walker discover one thing they have in common: desire. Will that be strong enough to survive the danger that follows Celia from Texas? Will desire be strong enough to teach the three that sometimes you have to risk everything for love?

Review

I've read a few Vanessa Vale books now, and this one is by far my favourite.  This is the first book in a new series based in a small mining town in the mountains where a new law has been passed that two men can marry one woman. Vanessa Vale has once again successfully combined two of my favourite sub genres - historical romance and menage romance - a combination that you don't come across too often.  It had romance, hot steamy sex, emotion and an interesting suspense storyline.

Luke is the mayor of Slate Springs and as he brought in the new law he is expected to set an example for the town by sharing a bride with his brother Walker. Luke turns to a mail order bride service, but he's not looking particularly looking forward to being married, he is doing it out of duty. Walker is even more reluctant to be married, as his first wife and unborn child tragically died. Celia is fleeing from her old life after her unfaithful husband was brutally murdered. Although she didn't kill him, the town still blamed her so she takes the only option she has - becoming a mail order bride. But she's shocked to discover that she hasn't just got one husband - she has two!

All three characters were likeable, but I especially loved Luke. He was very gentlemanly in public, but very naughty in the bedroom - the perfect combination! I really enjoyed the whole storyline, I can't really think of anything negative to say - except I wish it was longer as I didn't want it to end! Five stars.

About the Author:

Who doesn't love the romance of the old West? USA Today Bestselling author Vanessa Vale takes the sensual appeal of rugged cowboys a step further with her bestselling books set in the Montana Territory. They are much more than just sexy historical westerns. They're deliciously naughty reads that sometimes push the boundaries of fantasy. It's pure escapism with quite a few very hot, very alpha cowboys.
When she's not writing, Vanessa savors the insanity of raising two boys, is figuring out how many meals she can make with a pressure cooker, and teaches a pretty mean karate class. She considers herself to be remarkably normal, exceedingly introverted and fairly vanilla, which does not explain her steamy stories and her fascination with cowboys, preferably more than one at a time.
She lives in the Wild Wild West where there's an endless source of 'research' material.

Review tour - The Pleasure Principle by Kimberly Adkins

THE PLEASURE PRINCIPLE
by Kimberly Adkins

Genre: Contemporary Erotica

Anderson Cain and Julian Brax have been best friends since college, two men with very strict—and very different—approaches to finding love: one by studying the physical act of sex, the other by mastering the art of dominance and control. But throughout their relationship, one thing has remained a constant: They've never let a woman come between them. Until now.

Shy and mousy Alice Dahl spends her days cleaning houses for clients who value discretion. In her bulky uniform, glasses, and cap, she appears non-descript and unobtrusive, and does her job without asking questions. Until she begins working for the secretive, and stunningly gorgeous, Dr. Anderson Cain, who awakens a sexual longing in her that she can’t ignore. A new woman comes home with Dr. Cain nearly once a month—and that’s about how long they last. Alicia longs to have a chance to be with him, even though she knows that’s ridiculous. But when her curiosity lures her into his forbidden study, she can’t resist peeking at his notes. And what she finds astounds her. Dr. Cain is researching the subject of sexual pleasure. Even just skimming over the experiments arouses her as he describes each subject’s threshold of pleasure and the methods used to achieve climax. And she finds the venue where he meets his subjects: Damsels, a secretive BDSM club in the heart of the French Quarter.

Determined to take a chance, for once, Alice embarks on a masquerade into the exclusive New Orleans underworld of Dominants and Submissives. Her stunning makeover gains her admittance at Damsels, but the owner of the Club, Julian Brax, senses her innocence the moment he sees her. The Dom inside him feels a powerful and all-consuming need to protect her and make her his own. Until he finds out that the girl he’s set his heart upon is his friend Anderson’s next subject. They’ve never let a woman come between them before. Perhaps this time, they might enjoy it…

She ran the pads of her fingertips along the rough brick wall as she walked around the corner. Though she knew she should take off the glossy red paint, she hadn’t done it. Something about it made her feel sexy and a little decadent. She came to the wrought iron gate and looked inside. The area appeared to be empty, until she saw something in the far corner.

A man in tight blue jeans leaned over the side of a large motorcycle. His thighs were muscular and flexed when he reached forward for his helmet. Alice felt a wave of desire pass through her body and she couldn’t believe how she was reacting to a glimpse of some stranger on the other side of a courtyard.

A hot stranger, she reminded herself.

He put the helmet on with his back still to her and gracefully swung his right leg over the bike, straddling the powerful machine as he cranked it on.

Alice was light-headed and she held tight to the curling design on the gate. Butterflies swarmed in the pit of her stomach when she saw him notice her, standing there like a statue. She should probably move, or he wouldn’t be able to get out. But instead of rolling forward like she’d expected, the rider turned off the engine and climbed down. He walked toward her, his fingers unstrapping the helmet as he came closer.

With one swift movement he removed the helmet and tucked it under his arm, allowing his long black hair to fall over his shoulders. It was Julian Brax and she could tell he was holding back his emotions by the look on his face. He was still angry at her, then, for the part she’d played the evening before. Coming here to face him was probably a mistake. And he was quick to cross the courtyard to let her know about it, too.

Her fingers gripped the iron grate until her knuckles turned white.

“Alicia.” The way he said her name was as sexy as she remembered. She shivered. “Why are you here?”

His eyes searched hers and she pooled all of her will together in order to hold up under the scrutiny. She couldn’t tell what he was feeling, but the sparks of hazel in his deep brown eyes seemed to glow with intensity.

“I wanted to apologize for yesterday evening. I didn’t mean to cause a scene.” She didn’t mean to run from him either, when given the choice between the two friends, but she couldn’t get that part out. What would he think of her if she said something like that? Her feelings for both men were vastly different, and she was just too inexperienced to sort them out. Alice realized she had a lot to learn about herself and she began to turn away.

“Don’t leave.” Strong fingers covered hers before she could release her hold on the gate. “Please.”

His hands were warm, and the feeling spread across her body until her cheeks flushed. She turned to face him again, so close to him, just an inch of iron separating them.

“I was about to go for a ride. Would you like to come along?” He hadn’t released her. Somehow he came closer still and she could feel the intensity of his gaze as it dominated the space they shared. Alice was literally weak in the knees.

“I don’t know.” Her voice was breathy with the desire that was building inside her. He had to know the effect he was having; there was no way she could possibly hide it.

“You don’t know if you want to, or if you should?” He cocked his head to the side and read her like a book. “Would you like me to teach you the difference?”

Alice was fairly certain the iron clenched in her fist was melting beneath their clasped hands. Would he teach her, did he mean it? She wanted to explore these new feelings and desires. Julian Brax would be the perfect guide for her passions. But he might be dangerous. Would she be safe with him? As safe as she knew herself to be with Anderson?

“Yes.” Her answer came out as a whisper and the gate clicked open between them. Brax released her and stepped back. Alice walked into the courtyard and stopped in front of him awkwardly. He came close, his body nearly touching hers as he leaned down and whispered in her ear.

“Now you know what you want. Whether or not you should do it remains to be seen.”

It's taken me a while to decide what to rate this book, as I have mixed feelings about it. I did enjoy parts of it, but I struggled with other parts. I got a bit confused at times and had to go back to check things - but to be honest this probably had more to do with the pain medication I was on when I was reading it, than with the author's writing! The main negative for me was that it didn't really feel believable, but it was still a fun read that took you away from the mundane, everyday world. It was also very steamy - the sex scenes were very well written and very hot.

The three main characters - Alice, Anderson and Julian - were all likeable and the dynamics between them were interesting. My favourite character was Julian, he's a protective, caring alpha male - and he is hotter than hell! Overall this is an enjoyable, sexy read that gets three out of five stars.

#Excerpt
Why am I having sex with him?
Because it’s been two years since I’ve let someone touch me.
Why isn’t it better then?
I wish that I was the sort of woman who can give instructions. How hard, how fast, a little to the left… I couldn’t do it when I was married and the two year drought hasn’t changed that fact about me.
I wish I can tell him I’d like him to use his mouth.
Use your mouth…please…right there…
How hard would it be? It’s easy enough for Erik to move his mouth away from my breast, trailing his lips down my stomach, all the way down to that warm little place between my legs where his fingers are currently exploring? The fingers are nice – anything that doesn’t run on a battery is nice – but oh, his mouth would be so much better…
But no.
My mouth isn’t moving to say the words and neither is his.
I switch into one of my Chris Pratt fantasies as I feel my climax slowly approach, as slowly as Erik walked up to me in the bar – you know what’s coming and you’re ready for it to hurry up and get there.  Despite the need for the fantasy, I have to admit Erik isn’t doing all that bad. His fingers are hitting all the right spots but it would be so nice to feel the pressure of a tongue.
What would I know? I’ve had oral sex twice in my life; once with my husband - ex-husband - and once when I was eighteen with a very curious Aaron Mitchell.
Thoughts of Aaron have kept me warm through many a long winter’s night.
I gasp loudly. Erik lifts his head from my breast with a satisfied expression. “Was that good for you?”
What…
He doesn’t give me a chance to protest as he removes his hand and substitutes it for a hard penis, already sheathed in latex.
First of all – when did he put the condom on? And second – I wasn’t finished!
Exactly seven minutes later, he rolls off me. Almost immediately, I fall asleep. Which is a good thing, since I don’t have to lie awake, frustrated with the lack of the almost-was orgasm, but a bad thing because I never intended on staying the night.
I met Erik exactly three and a half hours ago. I wish I could say I really had no intention of having sex with him tonight but that would be a lie.
I picked that bar out of the many drinking establishments in the city with the concrete plan to hook up with someone. It was far enough from my house that I wouldn’t bump into my neighbours (not that I would realize it was a neighbour I was bumping into) and close enough to Isaac’s new place for the slim possibility he might witness my irresistibility to the opposite sex.
Erik had approached me first; I liked his tattoos and he had a nice smile. Plus, he made me laugh, and had a slight resemblance to Chris Pratt (Chris Pratt before the world discovered he had a beautiful six pack under the beer belly).
I’m sure the four shots of whisky I consumed in short order helped with his attractiveness.

Review

Touch is the first book in a new series, and if the next books are as good as this one it promises to be a great series. The book cover calls this 'an unconventional love story', and with what we've seen so far I'd definitely agree with that statement! I like the author's style of writing, and I absolutely love the characters that she's created. The three main characters all have the likability factor, and I'm look forward to getting to know them further in the next book.

Since her divorce Kenna has isolated herself from the world, she doesn't really interact with anyone or have friends - until she meets gorgeous, vivacious Iliya. She is drawn to Iliya, but she also finds herself very attracted to Iliya's handsome husband Del. The more she gets to know them, the more she likes them and she finds herself getting more and more involved in their lives.

This book ended just when things were heating up - I need the next book now! I can't wait to see what the future holds for Kenna, Iliya and Del. Touch receives four out of five stars.

Anna Ellis likes to writes about people (usually happily married) having sex with other people. There's no werewolves or vampires, shapeshifters or tentacles involved - just good, old-fashioned sex. And maybe a little tying up. Or a spanking or two.

Book review - Body Shots by Anne Rainey (ménage romance) 3 stars

Body Shots by Anne Rainey
M/F/M ménage romance
3/5 stars

Blurb

Free To Desire

No longer trapped in an abusive relationship, Crystal Shaw is ready to commit her body to the pursuit of sex. When her best friend invites her to an alternative club called Kinks, it's the perfect opportunity to realize her long dormant desires. . .

Committed To Pleasure

Inside the hot, throbbing club, Crystal finds herself drawn into the orbit of two of the sexiest men she's ever laid eyes on. It turns out Trent and Mac are co-owners of Kinks, and Crystal quickly discovers business isn't the only thing the two share. The feelings are indescribable as she gives every inch of her insatiable body to their experience and imagination. And she knows that once and for all, she is completely alive. . .

Review

This is quite a difficult book for me to review as I wanted to love it, but sadly I didn't. It started off brilliantly and I thought it would be a five star review, but it gradually it went downhill and ended up being a three star review.  I'm a big fan of M/F/M ménage romances, but this one didn't really work for me. It felt more like there were two separate couples than one complete trio. I just didn't see this relationship lasting which made me lose interest in the story.

Crystal has fled from her abusive husband and is making a fresh start. When her friend talks her into going to a BDSM club, Kinks, she meets two gorgeous men who want to give her a night she'll never forget. Trent and Mac are entranced by Crystal, but can they convince her that they want her for more than one night?

This book was very hot, and there were some very well written sex scenes. I noticed though that there was one threesome scene that was pretty much word for word the same as one earlier in the book. I did have an ARC version of this book though, so it may have been corrected in the final version.  Crystal was a great character, she was so strong and had overcome so much. This was an enjoyable book, and it's very sexy, but it had so much potential to be even better. Three stars.

Excerpt from Fireworks for Four:

“Do you want to test me? To wrap your hands around my prick and see just how hard it is. For you? You want it almost as much as I do, judging by your fists.”
Caroline started quietly panting. She was losing control of her body yet all he was doing was talking to her. In a public room where anyone could hear. Her pussy clenched, and she whispered, “Yes.”
“I know what you want. I know how to give it to you, how to make it happen for you. I can give you what you want tonight. Do you want it?”
She stammered, “I…I don’t know. I’ve never…”
Gabe ran a finger up the seam of her ass. “Never what? Never been fucked here? Are you curious? What else do you want?”
She issued a little moan, too embarrassed to speak but too overcome to remain silent. “Ah, I think I’ve figured it out now. He’s done something to your clit.” He reached his hand around to stroke the front of her thong. “Not a nipple extender. Highly effective but it might show through your costume. But some gel, something with an edge, eucalyptus or capsaicin maybe.”
When she dropped her head back, he removed his hand, letting it hover over the small panties.
“Yes, Caroline, I know what Craig did to you. And Tate knows, doesn’t he? I’ve seen the way he’s watched you tonight, prowling behind you, looking for an opportunity to pounce. Was he there? Did he help?”
Caroline nodded.
“Oh, yeah, baby. You liked it. You like him, too, don’t you? But you don’t know what to do about it. Have you ever had a ménage?”
His head was over her shoulder, his face next to hers as she gave her head a slow shake.
“Would you like to have one?”
The crowd in front of them started the one minute countdown to midnight.
She couldn’t hide her excitement at the prospect of a temporary physical connection with them. “I…I don’t know.”
“Think about it, sweetheart, and think hard. It’s New Year’s Eve. A time for new beginnings. The clock is about to strike twelve, but you’re no Cinderella. You can stay until dawn, if you like. I think you know that’s what we would like. Don’t you?”
Ten, nine, eight…
“You do? All three of you? You would share me?”
Seven, six, five…
“Craig might be a little jealous to begin with, but only until he sees how much satisfaction we can give you together.”
Four, three, two…
“One mouth on each of your beautiful rich breasts, sucking and biting. One mouth on your crotch, licking you from ass to clit.”
One, Happy New Year!

Review

Fireworks For Four is a seriously steamy novella that will set your kindle on fire. It is a quick, easy read that was fabulously erotic. It's only a short book, and most of it takes place over a couple of days, so there's not a great deal of space for character development but I still felt a connection to the main characters. The were a couple of nice twists in the story too which worked really well. I read this book in one sitting and couldn't put it down.

Caroline is struggling to get her career as a ballerina off the ground and she has no support from her estranged family so she is making ends meet by working as a nude living statue. Craig is a software developer who lives for his work and has little interest in anything else - until he meets the beautiful model at his New Years Eve party. He falls for her straight away and is determined to make her his - the problem is that his two best friends are also madly attracted to her. Caroline can't believe that she has three gorgeous men after her, but she feels an instant connection with Craig and is attracted to his friends as well so takes the opportunity to indulge in a fantasy - a ménage! But can Craig cope with sharing the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with?

There is some insta-love and a lot of insta-lust going on here, but I didn't mind that as it worked with the short length of the book. The sex scenes were explosive - so, so hot! This is a well written story that I really enjoyed, so it gets four stars.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
