Book review - Daddy's Game by Normandie Alleman (BDSM romance) 5 stars

Daddy's Game by Normandie Alleman
Daddy Dom/little girl BDSM romance
5/5 stars

This book was quite simply fabulous! I loved it!  Daddy's Game is book two in The Daddy's Girl series, but you don't have to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this one.  This is the second book I've read by Normandie Alleman, and she is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors.  I literally couldn't put this book down - I stayed up until 3am this morning as I just had to keep reading this absorbing tale.  Fun, love, romance, emotion, obstacles that must be overcome and lots of passionate kinky sex - this book has it all!

Sparks fly when up-and-coming artist Carmen Harris meets football star Natron Dakers at her first gallery opening. Carmen soon discovers that Natron is the type of man who sees what he wants and goes after it… and apparently what he wants is her. Almost before she knows it Carmen finds herself taking everything Natron gives her and begging for more, and when he reveals that he wants to be her dominant daddy and her to be his submissive little girl, she doesn’t hesitate to agree.
At the top of his profession, Natron has money, fame, and all the perks that go with them, and now at last in Carmen he has found a woman he wants to share it with. His life feels complete… until in a split second everything comes crashing down when a devastating injury threatens to end his season—and maybe his career. Natron fears he will lose it all, but will he self-destruct or can he dig deep and fight hard for himself, his teammates, and his little girl?
Purchase at Amazon

Both Carmen and Natron are brilliant characters - you feel like you really get to know them throughout this book, and you can't help but like them.  Carmen really blossoms under Natron's caring and loving domination - she is such a lucky girl, I wish there was a Natron out there for me!  Natron is a charismatic, successful football star who could have any woman he wanted, but he falls hard for sweet, curvy Carmen.  Natron is cocky and a real mamma's boy, but he's still so likeable, and he really grows and matures throughout this story.

When disaster strikes and Natron is seriously injured, he faces losing everything - including his little girl Carmen.  Natron and Carmen face many trials and tribulation that they must overcome, and it makes an exciting read.

Daddy/littles is an area of BDSM that is not often written about, but Normandie Alleman brings this dynamic expertly to life.  I have friends who have this kind of relationship with their partners, and the author represents it really well.  Natron is such a nurturing, caring soul- with a seriously kinky side that is sexy as hell to read about.  He is the perfect Daddy Dom - he is so in love with Carmen and gives her the love and discipline she needs.  The sex scenes are hot, hot hot!  They are imaginative and varied - I just loved the 'games' Natron liked to play.

The only parts that went over my head were the football references - being British I know absolutely nothing about American football!

I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy BDSM romances, I absolutely love Normandie Alleman's style of writing and I will be reading more of her books.  Daddy's Game gets five huge stars!

Book review - Mastering Meg by Saskia Walker (BDSM romance) 4 stars

Mastering Meg by Saskia Walker
BDSM romance novella
4/5 stars

Mastering Meg is a short, sweet and sexy novella that I enjoyed reading.  It tells the story of a couple who split up, but are still deeply in love with each other.  Piers attempts to win back Meg after he discovers she ended their relationship because she is ashamed of her need to submit.  This was the first book I've read by Saskia Walker and I really liked her writing style, the story flowed well and was easy to read.

Piers wants his lover Meg back. He's been to her London flat and he knows he finally has her figured out - because he found her secret stash of BDSM material. Meg clearly wants to be mastered, and Piers is determined to be the one to do so. After a breakneck drive to her side, he stakes his claim.

Meg is furious that her ex has cornered her and heads off into the wilds, but Piers is only a whisper behind her. When he captures and cuffs her, she is astonished. Despite her protestations, Meg is wildly aroused by his dominant approach. She's always loved him, and now he is kicking aside the final barrier between them.

Never before has Meg been so liberated, so debauched, or so thoroughly pleasured. Getting her to admit that, however, is his biggest challenge. But Piers is determined, he has patience...and he has an arsenal of bondage equipment to master Meg with.

Purchase on Amazon

I liked both characters, the love between them was clear to see and they were clearly meant to be together.  Piers was so accepting of Meg's need to submit and he was determined to be what she needed.  He has a naturally dominant personality, which was probably what initially attracted Meg to him, so Piers easily adapted to the role of her Master.  Piers was completely devoted to Meg - she is one lucky girl to have such a loving, caring man in her life.

Meg is an interesting character.  In her life she has to be in control and is borderline OCD, yet she longs to submit to a powerful man.  She struggles to come to terms with this, and can't bring herself to discuss it with Piers which is why she ended the relationship.  I loved her reactions to Piers' domination, the heat between them sizzled from the pages.

My only gripe is that I wish this book was a bit longer so we could learn more about Meg and Piers, and delve deeper into their relationship.  I would have loved the story to have started before the initial relationship breakdown, so I could have connected more to the characters and become more invested in their relationship.

Overall this is a good lighthearted read which gets four out of five stars.

A Thief in Venice by Tara Crescent (m/f BDSM romance) - 4 stars

A Thief in Venice by Tara Crescent
M/f BDSM romance
4/5 stars

A Thief in Venice is a fun, short read with some amazingly steamy sex.  This is the second book I've read by Tara Crescent and although I initially struggled with the first person point of view, I've come to really enjoy her writing style.  This book is alternately told from both main characters point of view and it was nice to be able to get an insight into both of their thoughts and feelings.

Two thieves. One painting. One very dangerous game.
For seven years, Lucia Petrucci has stolen a painting every year to keep the memory of her parents alive. But now she has made a mistake. She has crossed the most dangerous man in Venice. Antonio Moretti, Head of the Thieves Guild.
She has stolen from Antonio, and he wants retribution. Can Lucia pay his price?

Purchase on Amazon

Lucia Petrucci is like a modern day Robin Hood.  Every year on the anniversary of her parents death she steals a painting and returns it to the rightful owners.  But this year it all goes wrong when she is steals from Antonio Moretti, Head of the Thieves Guild.  Antonio gives her a choice of being punished by his him or his notorious henchmen.  Fearful of broken limbs and ending up in the canal, she chooses to be punished by Antonio himself.

From here the author weaves a magical tale of domination and submission.  Antonio soon falls for his 'little thief' and is determined to make Lucia his.  Lucia doesn't trust love, believing it only results in loss and pain, so although she happily submits to Antonio in the bedroom or dungeon she is skittish about getting more involved.

The chemistry between the Lucia and Antonio is sizzling, and the sex scenes are seriously hot.  These scenes are well written and will leave you feeling hot under the collar.

Although my brain was telling me that I shouldn't like characters who were thieves, I couldn't help falling in love with both Lucia and Antonio.

A Thief in Venice is a fun, sexy read that gets four out of five stars and I look forward to reading more from Tara Crescent

Book review - Poor Little Daddy's Girl by Normandie Alleman (m/f BDSM) 5 stars

Poor Little Daddy's Girl by Normandie Alleman
M/f Daddy Dom/little girl BDSM
5/5 stars

I've only read a few books with a Daddy Dom/little girl dynamic and I've found they are rather like marmite for me - I either love them or hate them.  Happily Poor Little Daddy's Girl firmly falls into the love category and it is by far the best book I've read in this sub-genre.  This is the third book in a series, but it can be read as a stand alone.  I really enjoyed Normandie Alleman's style of writing and I couldn't put this book down.

Twenty-four-year-old Charmaine Bainbridge appears to have it all—beauty, fame, and tremendous wealth—yet behind all the glitz and glamor hides a sad little girl who has been abandoned by every man she’s ever loved.
When firefighter Hunter Baldwin saves Charmaine from a fire in her penthouse apartment—a blaze started by her own carelessness—he’s appalled by her nonchalant attitude. Forced to carry her to safety, he throws her over his shoulder, but not before correcting her behavior with a well-deserved spanking. Something about Charmaine arouses him deeply, and it isn’t just her gorgeous looks. This girl needs to be firmly corrected and thoroughly dominated, and a part of Hunter demands that he be the one to take her in hand.
Though he’s used to charging into burning buildings on a daily basis, Hunter knows taming Charmaine’s wild ways may prove to be his greatest challenge yet. Undeterred, he takes on the role of Charmaine’s daddy dom in hopes of breaking down her defences and healing her wounds. But can she bring herself to open her heart to him, or will she remain the lonely little rich girl forever?

Purchase on Amazon

Charmaine is a spoilt rich girl who is drinking too much and running wild.  Hunter is the oh so sexy firefighter who rescues Charmaine when she accidentally sets her penthouse apartment on fire because she is drunk.  I admit that I expected to find Charmaine annoying, but I was pleasantly surprised.  She has everything money can buy - except someone who loves and cares for her, and this often causes her to be a brat.  I found myself feeling sorry for her as her life is empty and there really is a nice person hiding behind the bratty persona.

Where do I start with Hunter? Oh My God, he is such a sexy character!  Hot as hell, fit, caring and a heroic firefighter - he has it all.  I'm a real sucker for dirty talk, and Hunter gets ten out of ten for it! Hunter is naturally dominant and is the ideal Dom for Charmaine.  He lovingly corrects Charmaine's self-destructive behaviour and the sexual chemistry between them is off the charts.  Hunter has never taken a 'Daddy' role before but he assumes this role for Charmaine and he is perfect as the nurturing, caring Daddy to Charmaine's Little Girl.

Daddy/little girl play is an often misunderstood area of BDSM that is not often written about, but Normandie Alleman represents it well.  The subject is treated with respect and portrayed as the loving kind of relationship it often is.  There is no age play, instead their relationship focuses on care and discipline - along with plenty of hot sex and bondage.

I definitely recommend this book, it gets five out of five stars from me and I will be looking out for other books by this author.

Book review - Safe Harbor by Tymber Dalton 5 stars

Safe Harbor by Tymber Dalton
M/M/F BDSM Menage
5/5 stars

I've recently re-read Safe Harbor by Tymber Dalton as I thought I would post reviews of some of my favourite books.  Safe Harbor is book one of Ms Dalton's fabulous Suncoast Society and is a big favourite of mine.  This was the first book I had read by Tymber Dalton and I have since become addicted to her smouldering tales of love, domination and submission.  I love M/M/F dynamics, especially if combined with BDSM elements, and this is one of the best M/M/F books I've read.

Clarisse seeks refuge from her abusive ex-boyfriend on the Dilly Dally, her uncle's old fishing trawler in Tarpon Springs, Florida. She doesn't expect to find Mac and Sully, the Dilly's sexy new owners, on board making love.

They're at first startled by her appearance, then outraged by the injuries her ex inflicted. They insist she stay with them, and with nowhere else to go, Clarisse agrees.

Both men find themselves falling for Clarisse, but she can't bring herself to completely trust Sully, a former cop, like her ex. She's shocked to discover the men aren't just lovers either, but full-time Master and slave in a BDSM relationship. As she learns more about their history and lifestyle, she uncovers her own hidden desires. When danger from her past returns, can Sully and Mac provide Clarisse a Safe Harbor?

Purchase from Amazon

We first meet Clarisse when she is fleeing from her abusive ex-boyfriend.  I immediately liked Clarisse and felt for her after her horrific ordeal.  Mac and Sully are both fantastic characters - playful, fun Mac is a perfect partner for brooding ex-cop Sully.  Sully is still one of my favourite characters from the Suncoast Society series (along with Tilly from book two), and I love it when he, Mac and Clarisse pop up in other books in the series.  Mac and Sully have a strong relationship, built upon a 24/7 Master/slave dynamic.  Both men fall for Clarisse but she struggles to come to terms with the BDSM elements in their relationship, and she has to learn to trust former cop Sully.

There is alot of suspense and danger in this book, that leaves you on the edge of your seat.  I don't want to say to much about this as I don't want to give the plot away, but it really is a roller coaster ride.  Safe Harbor is a emotional tale that had me weeping buckets at times, I connected so strongly with all three main characters that I felt all of their triumphs and pain.

Some of the BDSM scenes is this book are quite heavy as Mac is a masochist - personally I enjoy reading the heavier scenes but it may be a little strong for some.  Everything is done in a safe, sane and consensual way of course, and Sully is much gentler with Clarisse than he is with Mac.  The scenes are well written and very believable - Tymber Dalton portrays BDSM very realistically, she really is one of the best authors in this genre.

I highly recommend this book, it is absolutely fantastic.  Safe Harbor is definitely worth five out of five stars!

Other books in this series will be reviewed soon.

Baked Fresh by Annabeth Albert (m/m romance) 5 stars

Baked Fresh by Annabeth Albert
M/M romance
5/5 stars

Baked Fresh is the second book in the Portland Heat series by Annabeth Albert (the books also standalone, so you don't need to have read book number one).  I liked the first book, Served Hot, but this one is even better.  Annabeth Albert is becoming one of my favourite authors in this genre -  she weaves emotional, romantic stories about normal, believable characters that are a pleasure to read.

Vic Degrassi is a baker on the rise, and it's all thanks to his rare ability to make—and keep—his New Year's resolutions. Whether it's losing weight, giving up smoking, or graduating from culinary school, Vic goes after what he wants—and gets it. This year? He wants Robin Dawson, the sweet-hearted hottie who volunteers with him at the local homeless shelter. When he learns that Robin is suddenly single after being unceremoniously dumped, Vic is more than happy to offer a shoulder to cry on—or at least a fresh-baked pastry to bite into. But it's been a long time since Vic's gone on a date, and he's nervous about risking his friendship with Robin. So when their flirtation turns into a steamy night together, Vic and Robin have to figure out if they're friends with benefits or lovers in the making, and if Robin is ready for something more than just a rebound. There's only one way to find out: turn up the heat…

Pre-order at Amazon

Pre-order from Barnes & Noble

This story was told solely from the point of view of Vic, a baker who is determined to win his friend Robin's heart.  Both Vic and Robin have their own problems and character flaws - Vic has managed to lose over 100 lbs but still has food and body image issues.  Robin has battled drug and alcohol addiction and is now on the rebound after being dumped by his pompous boyfriend.  I liked both characters, especially Vic, as I can really relate to his battle with his weight.

Robin comes across as vulnerable, but he has a strength to his character that he doesn't realise is there.  Vic helps Robin see that he has beaten his demons and he deserves to be happy.  Vic is so protective of Robin and is a real tower of strength for him - it's really sweet, I loved Vic.  I quickly became invested in their story and was willing them to succeed in their relationship and lives.

There are lots of steamy scenes in this book, but it also has a good story to back it up.  Love and trust is at the heart of this book - Baked Fresh is a gentle, easy read.  The only negative thing I can find about this book is that it made me crave cake which is not good for my diet!  I am looking forward to the next book in the Portland Heat series as I really enjoy Annabeth Albert's style of writing.  Baked Fresh gets five delicious stars.

Baked Fresh is released on April 14 2015.  For more information about Annabeth Albert and her books please visit www.annabethalbert.com.

All Fired Up by Madelynne Ellis (m/f erotic romance) 5 stars

All Fired Up by Madelynne Ellis
M/f erotic romance
5/5 stars

All Fired Up is the second book in Madelynne Ellis' series which features the members of rock band Black Halo.  I haven't read the first book in the series, and although I could follow the plot with no problem, I would recommend reading All Night Long first so you get the background of all the characters and relationships.  I am a big fan of hard rock music, so I loved the setting of this book.  All Fired Up is a fun read, filled with larger than life characters, bad boy rockers, and sizzling sexual chemistry.

Ginny Walters always knew her weakness for bad boys would get her into trouble. Her one night stand with Black Halo's lead guitarist, Ash Gore, was only supposed to be a fun, not the prelude to the sort of relationship that'd scorch holes in her heart as well as her bed sheets. She'd be the happiest woman in the world if Ash wasn't so determined to keep their connection off radar.

Ash Gore knows girlfriends are bad news for bands, which is why he's resolved to keep his attachment to Ginny a secret. He and the guys have enough on their stages as they try to piece themselves back together after the band's split. But when new drummer, Iain Willows, starts taking an active interest in Ginny, tensions quickly mount. Soon, Ash is not only at risk of losing Ginny, but everything he holds dearest--including life itself.

Purchase on Amazon

Ash is such a great character - on the surface he's a tattooed bad boy, but inside he's a big softy with a real vulnerable side.  Ginny is such a strong feisty woman who is perfect for Ash.  The relationship has it's ups and downs throughout the book, with Ginny not impressed when Ash wants to keep their relationship secret and other forces working to keep them apart.  They have amazing chemistry between them with some fantastically sexy scenes.  I loved the phone sex scene - which wasn't exactly how you'd expect it to be, but it was hot!

The supporting cast was great too - I especially love Xane, and he has his own series of 'Rock Hard' books which tell his and Dani's story so I will be adding those to my 'to read' list.  Spook is a fantastic character too and I'd love to know more about him.

I love Madelynne Ellis' writing style, the story flowed so well and it was expertly written.  I've been exploring the author's website, and so many of her books appeal to me.  Anything But Vanilla sounds especially appealing - yet another one to add to my 'to read' list!

All Fired up is a brilliant book, it has all the vital ingredients - interesting characters, hot rockers, intrigue, romance, a great sense of humour and it is hot enough to steam up the windows!  I definitely give this five stars -  I can't wait for the next book so we can see what happens next to our favourite hard rock band and the guys and girls we all love.

A must read! But unlike me do read them in the correct order!

Every Second Weekend by Cara Addison (erotic m/f romance) 5 stars

Every Second Weekend by Cara Addison

(Erotic m/f romance)
5 stars

If you are looking for seriously hot romance, Every Second Weekend is the book for you.  Cara Addison is a new author for me, and boy can she write a story that packs a big, sexy punch.  This is a feel good romance that is ideal to curl up with in front of the fire with a glass of wine and some chocolates.

It’s 2015 and CJ Adams is the quintessential super mom, balancing an executive job with parenting duties as she shuttles her daughters from one activity to another.

High school English teacher, Dale Anderson has recently moved to the City of Walden and is finding it hard to meet new people.

Everything changes when CJ and Dale are invited to celebrate a mutual friends birthday and the attraction between the two is instant and intense. The discovery of new arousals and interests are obvious from their very first date as CJ and Dale navigate everyday life and a few extreme circumstances. As a divorced mother sharing custody of her two young children, they soon learn that they can’t limit their relationship to every second weekend.

Purchase on Amazon

CJ is a great character - I loved her.  Feisty, strong, sexy and funny, she is a great mom who works hard to raise money for her charitable organisation - she really is a super mom.  Dale is also a likeable character and he is the perfect match for CJ.  It was lust at first sight for both of them, but much stronger feelings soon developed.

Their relationship is not without ups and downs - from a trouble making ex husband, Dale's family problems and the often difficult task of introducing a new partner to your children.  This is believable tale with likeable lead characters, who have normal problems - but who also have a fantastic sex life!  The sex scenes are sensual and well written - and they are hot, hot, hot!

I really enjoyed this book, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes their romances to be deliciously steamy.

Every Second Weekend gets five sexy stars.

Book review - Yogi and the Bear by Nix Knox (m/m BDSM romance) 5 stars

Yogi and the Bear by Nix Knox
M/m BDSM romance
5/5 stars

I really looked forward to reading this book, and it didn't let me down.  Yogi and the Bear is a amazing cocktail of laugh out loud funny moments, love, romance and a big shot of deliciously kinky sex.  Nix Knox wove a wonderful tale of two guys discovering their love of each other and of bondage, whilst also working their way through past traumas and the effect they had on their lives and personalities.

If the fall is inevitable, might as well enjoy the tumble.Months after a scaffolding accident leaves him in chronic agony, construction worker Ryan Powell has exhausted all that Western medicine has to offer. He’s willing to try anything, even yoga, to get some relief. He expected to feel out of place at the New Age Center, but he never expected a power outage bathroom encounter to magically erase his pain. When he discovers the man with the magic hands is his drop-dead-sexy yoga teacher, Ryan decides that there might just be something to this metaphysical thing, after all.Yogi Niklas Baumgartner has found it remarkably easy to keep his shiny vow of chastity untarnished—until now. Still, a bathroom hand job doesn’t really count as sex, right? But his footing on the no-nooky wagon slips when he realises the big, blond bear at the back of the class is his man in the dark.Their unlikely attraction brings out sides of themselves they never knew lurked beneath the surface, sides it takes courage to accept. But when trust is broken, repairing the damage might just tear them apart.

Pre-order on Amazon

Ryan has to be one of my all time favourite characters - loyal, funny, loving and protective with a potty mouth all wrapped up in a gorgeous hunky package.  He is a big, blond, fun loving bear.  It took me a little longer to fall in love with Nik.  He is such a complex character, with lots of issues, but he is so well written.  Nik has his insecure, shy side but Ryan brings out the dominant, possessive side of him.  This confuses Nik and he even refers to the other side of his character as a different person with a different name!  He certainly has alot of problems that he needs to work through, but his journey makes a great read.  It's refreshing to have two unique, well-drawn characters - often in BDSM themed books they are cookie cutter characters who are instantly forgettable.

Nik and Ryan don't start off well with their forays into bondage - they ignore some essential advice they are given and something goes wrong.  These scenes are a little uncomfortable as you can tell it's all going to go pear-shaped - I just wanted to shout at them and tell them to stop and talk!  This story really hammers home the 'safe, sane and consenual' message of BDSM, and proves that you really need to communicate to make these type of relationships work.

This is a very moving book and at times it had me in tears.  It's emotional, with some real angst, but it's balanced out with some very funny moments (I loved the 'accidental porn' scene!).  An honest and totally believable tale where you really wanted the relationship to succeed.

Yogi and the Bear is a terrific read, I highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys m/m romances.  It definitely deserves 5 stars, it's one of the best books I've read in a long time.  This was the first Nix Knox book I've read, but it won't be the last!

Book review - The Audition by Tara Crescent (BDSM romance) 4 stars

The Audition by Tara Crescent

BDSM m/f romance
4/5 stars

The Audition is a super-hot 91 page BDSM novella with a strict brooding Dom and a sub who needs his discipline and care to help her come to terms with her mother's death, and to tutor her to pass her Juilliard audition.  This is the first book I've read by Tara Crescent but it won't be the last, it was a great read.

Ever since she was a child, Allie Greenwall has wanted to get into Juilliard. But she hasn’t played the piano in six years, and she is hopelessly rusty. Her only hope of passing her audition rests with reclusive Russian pianist Nikolai Zhednov.

But Nikolai is no longer the man she knew, and in his dungeon, Allie realizes that his help will come at a high cost, one she’s not sure she can pay

Purchase on Amazon

I'll be honest and say that after the first few pages I wasn't sure I'd like this book, Allie just seemed a bit immature and annoying, but I'm glad I persevered as I really enjoyed it.  We soon learn that there is a reason that Allie has gone off the rails, and she is trying her best to put this right.  A major part of her plan is to start playing the piano again and pass her Juilliard audition.  But she's rusty and needs the help of her mother's former protege Nikolai.

Nikolai is just the kind of Dom I like - dark, brooding, strict and so, so sexy but with a good heart and strong desire to help our heroine.  His methods seem unusual and a bit extreme, but they work and the resulting scenes are seriously steamy.  Nikolai is also the only Dom I've come across with a piano in his dungeon!

This book is told from Allie's first person point of view.  I'm not always a first person POV fan, but in this case it really works.  We don't know what's going through Nikolai's mind and it makes him seem even more mysterious and enigmatic,

The Audition is a sexy, short read that I'd really recommend to BDSM romance fans.  I give it four out of five stars.

Book review - Served Hot by Annabeth Albert (m/m romance) 4 stars

Served Hot by Annabeth Albert

(M/M romance)
4 stars

Served Hot is sweetly sexy novella by Annabeth Albert, and is the first book in her Portland Heat series. Each book in the series features different characters and can be read as standalone books.  I don't often read novellas as I find them too short to become invested in the characters, but Annabeth Albert quickly drew me into this emotional love story and I was soon hoping that Robby and David's relationship succeeded.

Robby is a self-employed barista with a busy coffee cart, a warm smile, and a major crush on one of his customers. David is a handsome finance director who works nearby, eats lunch by himself, and expects nothing but "the usual"—small vanilla latte—from the cute guy in the cart. But when David shows up for his first Portland Pride festival, Robby works up the nerve to take their slow-brewing relationship to the next level. David, however, is newly out and single, still grieving the loss of his longtime lover, and unsure if he’s ready to date again. Yet with every fresh latte, sweet exchange—and near hook-up—David and Robby go from simmering to steaming to piping hot. The question is: Will someone get burned?

Pre-order Served Hot on Amazon

Both Robby and David have been burnt by past relationships with guys who were still in the closet, and as a result they both have their own emotional issues to work through.  Robby and David are endearingly sweet and awkward with each other, which results in mis-communications and some funny moments.  There are also some well written sex scenes which will get you hot under the collar.

Served Hot is written from Robby's first person POV.  I would have preferred to have had some of the story told from David's point of view as well, but this is a purely personal preference.  Unlike some first person POV books I've read in the past though, I felt the story flowed well and was easy to read.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book, perfect to read with a posh coffee and to help you wind down from a busy working week.  Adorable main characters, an emotional romantic storyline and some sexy m/m bedroom action - Served Hot gets a well deserved four out of five stars!

Served Hot is published on 3rd March 2015

Book Review - Becoming His Master by M.Q. Barber (m/m, BDSM) 5/5 stars

Becoming His Master by M.Q. Barber

M/m, BDSM
5/5 stars

Becoming His Master is book number four in M.Q. Barber's popular Neighborly Affection series.  This book is a prequel to the others, so even though I haven't read the first three books I had no problem starting out with this one.  Becoming His Master is an intelligently written book that delves into the emotional complexities of D/s.  Unlike some BDSM books out there, this isn't filled with spanking and flogging scenes, it goes far deeper than that and is a very rewarding read as a result of this.

From rescue to romance… Teach a wounded submissive the value of his service. The task ought to be an easy one for an experienced dominant like Henry Webb.
But novice Jay Kress challenges his teacher like no other. Still bearing the bruises of an encounter outside the bounds of safe consensual play, Jay is desperate to submit to the man who saved him—and shamed by his desires.
Henry recognises the dangers of a relationship built on hero worship. He’ll teach Jay how to stay safe, that’s all. He won’t take advantage of the younger man’s trust. He won’t share his fantasies about his dark-haired, athletic student. He’ll never claim this submissive for his own...

After Jay is brutally attacked by a vicious sadist he his rescued by caring Dom Henry.  Jay is naturally submissive and badly wants to serve a Dom or Domme, but he has not been taught the fundamental 'safe, sane and consensual' rules of BDSM.  Enter the gorgeous Henry, who works hard to teach Jay how to safely interact with dominants, while also helping him to overcome his traumatic attack.  The author really stresses how important safety in BDSM is, and the consequences that can happen if this is not followed, which is something that is often glossed over in BDSM romances.

Henry does not use pain to discipline Jay, he's had far too much of that from other dominants.  Instead he connects with Jay emotionally and uses rewards and affection to guide his submissive through the world of BDSM,  So if you are looking for constant whippings and floggings this book probably isn't for you, but if you are looking for an emotional, romantic journey with some hot sex scenes then this is a book you'll enjoy.

I will definitely be reading books one to three in this series, as I really want to see how Henry and Jay's relationship developed into a menage with a female submissive (I'm a big fan a m/m/f menages).  M.Q Barber is a new author for me, but definitely one I would recommend.

Caged Sanctuary by Tempeste O'Riley (m/m, BDSM) 4/5 stars

Caged Sanctuary by Tempeste O'Riley

(m/m, BDSM)4/5 stars

Caged Sanctuary is the first book I've read by Tempeste O'Riley, but it definitely won't be the last.  I discovered this book when it was recommended to me on Amazon, and after reading the blurb I went ahead and purchased it.  I must admit that one of the reasons I was attracted to the book was the fact that one of the heroes was a wheelchair user.  I've never read a BDSM book where one of the characters used a wheelchair, and being a wheelchair user myself this really intrigued me.

"Kaden Thorn, a dental surgeon who lives a quiet life, has no hope of finding the love he craves. A vicious gay bashing cost him the use of his legs and confined him to a wheelchair. He has given up hope of finding a Dom or even a non-kink partner to love him. When his best friend practically forces him to attend a dinner party, the last thing he expects is a strong Dom who can see beyond his wheels.Deacon James is an architect and a demanding Dom, but he has spent the last couple of years without a sub or partner. When an employee invites him to a dinner party to meet his girlfriend, Deacon smells a setup but agrees anyway. He prides himself on being an excellent judge of character, and when he meets the younger dentist, he sees past the chair and finds a sweet submissive man who more than piques his interest.Kade’s fears and demons continue to haunt him, challenging Deacon to use everything he’s learned as a Dom to earn Kade’s trust and submission. Deacon’s determined, though, willing to battle all of it to have Kade by his side and at his feet."

I really liked both of the main characters.  Kade was so sweet and endearing, and Deacon was such a caring Dom who went out of his way to ensure that Kade was able to feel safe and comfortable with him.  I found myself really routing for this couple, and hoping that Deacon would be successful in showing Kade that he could still submit to and serve a Dom despite being paralysed.  I found the adaptions that Deacon used when he scened with Kade really interesting, and it was obvious that the author had carefully researched BDSM and disabilities.

The supporting cast were interesting and well-rounded characters too, who really added something to the story too.  I loved Kade's friend Jake, and was happy that they reconnected after Kade had distanced himself following his awful homophobic attack.

Caged Sanctuary is now one of my favourite m/m books.  The story was well written, with lovable lead characters and sex scenes that were hot, hot, hot!  I would definitely recommend this book to other lovers of BDSM and and m/m books. I just wish that there was a Deacon somewhere out there for me!
