Book review- Hold My Hand by Paloma Beck (BDSM romance) 4/5 stars

Hold My Hand by Paloma Beck
Light BDSM romance
4/5 stars

Hold My Hand is book one of the Heart and Soul series by Paloma Beck, which tells the story of Aubrey and William.  The author successfully combines romance and a D/s relationship in this gentle love story.  The BDSM elements are quite light, it's more about the power exchange then intense scenes - although there are some very sexy spankings!  This was an enjoyable read, and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Synopsis
A love story about Aubrey and William. They're navigating through a relationship that may have too many hurdles... or perhaps not, as long as she can hold his hand.
Aubrey has been hurt in the past, discouraged by her family and degraded by a heartless father. Still, William sees something in her that won't allow him to walk away. Instantly drawn to her but intuitive enough to take it slowly, he courts her. Then he bargains, persuades and seduces until Aubrey becomes ensnared by his commanding nature. Despite the fight she puts up in accepting William's lifestyle, the bonds he places on Aubrey give her a freedom she desperately needs. And together, they heal old wounds and find their perfect love.

Coffee shop worker Aubrey literally runs into William on her way to work, spilling her coffee over his pristine shirt.  After watching Aubrey for months, William is happy for the opportunity to ask her out for dinner.  From here the couple embark on a journey of domination and submission.  From their first date William starts as he means to go on by feeding Aubrey from his plate, which I always find so sweet and a great way to build bonds between the Dom and sub.

Aubrey has big self-esteem issues, thanks to the way her father has always put her down and made her feel worthless.  I liked the way that William constantly worked on building Aubrey's confidence and self esteem.  Aubrey also battled with her religion and wether a D/s relationship is right in God's eyes.  This is something that I haven't come across before, and I was intrigued by this emotional struggle.

This book was told entirely in Aubrey's voice, and we found out a lot about her background and why she acted how she did. William was much more mysterious and I really want to know more about him. I believe the next book is told from William's point of view, so it will be interesting to find out his background and to get to know him more.

The relationship between Aubrey and William was intense and the characters connected on both a physical and emotional level.  They seemed to be good for each other and I can't wait to read the next book to see how their relationship progresses.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
